Summer Reading


A fun summer of program events and good reads awaits at Alexander County Library and Bethlehem Branch with BUILD A BETTER WORLD – the summer reading program.

Dates: June 18 – July 29, 2017

Cost: FREE
Ages: Birth to 18, but there will also be a program for adults
Requirements: None, but readers can record time and report minutes read. Programs are optional and free to attend.

It’s HAMMER TIME! Reading time levels will be noted on the student’s hammer on the reading wall at each library. Each participant who attends a program or reports time read will receive a goody bag and this year’s stadium cup.

Be sure to check off each activity block that you do at the bottom of the calendar.  You will get a special sticker on your hammer.

Watch the fun movie “Rolling With the Lunch Ladies” created by Alexander County YMCA Daycampers.

The campers wrote, illustrated, and created music for the movie to highlight the wonderful meals provided by the USDA’s Federal Feeding Program.  Children 1 -18 years of age in Alexander County may have free meals at the locations listed below:
